No image selectedWhat this check looks at
The detector reads patterns in the image itself. We also look at basic file details, such as its size, dimensions, and whether any camera metadata is still there. The original file usually gives us more to work with.
- Patterns in the image pixels
- Whether the file still has readable camera metadata
- Compression, resolution, and screenshot warnings
Start with the original file
Messaging apps, social platforms, and screenshots often strip metadata and squeeze image quality. That does not make a photo AI-generated. It just leaves fewer clues behind.
Treat the result as one clue
A detector cannot establish who made an image, whether it was used deceptively, or who is pictured. Check the source and surrounding context before drawing a bigger conclusion.
Questions
Can an AI photo detector know for sure?+
No. It can give you a useful read, but the result is still probability-based. High-stakes decisions need source checks and independent review.
Does missing EXIF mean a photo was made by AI?+
No. Metadata disappears for ordinary reasons, including editing, screenshots, and reposting. Missing EXIF is a limitation, not evidence.
